Sony DEV-50V-B Or How To Record What You See With Binoculars
If you ever wondered how to record all the amazing things and situations you see with your binoculars here’s the answer: Digital Recording Binoculars.
While you can also use a cheaper solution like a smartphone kit such as Snapzoom which will connect your iPhone (or any other smartphone) to a pair of binoculars and allow you to use your phone’s camera to record whatever it’s on the other end, digital recording binoculars are a more adequate solution for the traveling, storage and high definition distance recording.

The Sony DEV-50V/B Digital Recording Binoculars are a top of the class distance HD recording gadget featuring 12x optical zoom and up to x25 digital magnification, HD OLED finder, Optical SteadyShot stabilization, simultaneous zoom and autofocus, distance photo shooting as well as HD and 3D digital recording capabilities.
And, did I mention the DEV-50V/B is also dustproof and rainproof?

43 Cool Gadgets To Help You Sneak Booze Almost Everywhere

There are many ways to justify sneaking booze into a place. Some will say it’s cheaper, others will say it’s more convenient as they don’t have to stay in line to buy a drink and some will even say they do not like the existing selection and they prefer to bring their’s.
My objective is not to argue about the validity of all these reasons, but to show you 42 cool ways you can conceal your drink and smuggle into the cinema, football game, at the pub, even on a cruise ship or in whatever place you’d like to do so.

Also check the 33 Wallet Gadgets To Supercharge Your Daily Routine cool round up I featured earlier.

Small disclaimer – Use your due diligence. Keep in mind that in some places booze smuggling is illegal and you will support the consequences if you are caught doing so. Research local laws before passing to action and, most important of all, remember that alcohol should be used and consumed in a responsible manner only by individuals who are of legal drinking age.

Before going further and diving into the 42 cool hidden flasks I gathered for you – take a moment and check Seth Lieber‘s comprehensive B.Y.O.B. – How to Sneak Alcohol Onto a Cruise Ship and other ways of reducing your bar tab.

Al Weather Canon Image Stabilization Binoculars (15x50mm and 18x50mm)

The Canon IS binoculars are built for truly outstanding optical performance. Here’s what an Amazon reviewer has to say about them after using them for a while: “These binoculars are spectacular. Point them at Jupiter and you see a bright dot wandering around in the field of view. Press the image stabilization switch and the planet and its moons instantly become visible.” – also check the Minox Compact 7×28 Binoculars.

The Canon binoculars feature a 2xAA battery powered image stabilizer able to counteract ±0.7° hand tremor in all directions, multi-coated lenses, ultra-low dispersion glass element, 15mm eye relief and a standard 1/4″-20 threaded tripod socket. The binoculars are anti-shock and waterproof, which allows Canon to tag this model as all weather binoculars.

This model is available in 15x50mm and 18x50mm versions.

Snapzoom - The Universal Smartphone Scope Adapter
Snapzoom is a cool universal smartphone mount that turns ordinary binoculars in super telephoto lenses. The mount is compatible with most smartphones on the market regardless the manufacturer or the operating system (Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile). Basically, Snapzoom “connects and aligns a smartphone camera with the eyepiece of an optical scope. The scope then becomes an accessory lens, and the smartphone camera’s image is magnified by the power of the scope. For example, the iPhone 5’s camera is equivalent to a 33mm lens field of view. Adding a Snapzoom and the average 10x power binocular increases the size of the image to a 330mm lens field of view.”

Snapzoom successfully finished a Kickstarter funding campaign and is in production mode with delivery dates set for October 2013.

7x28 Compact Binocular from Minox

While some items are made specially to offer you extra protection and comfort during your outdoors adventures (see the Thermacell heated insoles or the Bear Grylls survival kit), this 7×28 binocular from Minox was designed to allow you to have a good overview of the nature and the terrain in your whereabouts.

Anybody taking outdoor trip security seriously, should include a binocular in their trip bag. We find this Minox optical piece a very good candidate to be part of your outdoors backpack because:

  • Waterproof (up to 5 m underwater)
  • Corrosion and fogging protected (nitrogen gas filling)
  • Twisting eye-cups
  • 7×28 precision optics (sharp view from 20m to infinity)
  • High-contrast image, brilliant colors, and a bright clear image experience
  • Neoprene strap and case included

While there are other more powerful binoculars out there we like the Minox BD 7×28 IF model for it’s compact size, waterproof capability and high quality optics.

What binoculars do you carry with you in your outdoors trips? Let me know in the comments.
