UHAC (Ultra Heavy-lift Amphibious Connector) is the US Navy‘s latest toy ship-to-shore connector and equipment and troops transporter.
The UHAC can carry up to 240 tons of payload at a cruising speed of 20 knots (that’s 24mph or 37 KMH) and can move on water, land, sand, marshes, mud flats, basically any kind of terrain and easily drive over 10ft (3 meters) high obstacles!
The vehicle is a prototype and it’s half-scale unarmored version was already tested a couple of months ago (March, 2014) by the US marines. When in service, the UHAC will be heavily armored to assure protection of the cargo and troops during transportation and will be loaded with .50 machine guns for protection.
