Our homes are getting smarter and smarter everyday! Cool gadgets such as the NEEO Smart Remote, the Goji Smart Remote, the Peq Smart Home Sensor and many others hit the market everyday and use the latest technologies combined with fast internet connections to allow you better monitor, control and interact with your home.
The Withings Home is another such cool gadget designed to allow you better interact with your house and increase your overall comfort. The Withings Home is a features a wide angle 135-degree 5MP HD camera with night vision which allows you to constantly video monitor what’s happening in your home, a 2w high quality speaker and 2 digital microphones, noise and motion detectors which allow the camera to record footage only when something it’s happening in the room, an air quality analyzer which, matched with an iPhone or Android app, can analyze and track the quality of the air inside your house as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity for fast wireless and cable data transfers.
With all technological advances in the past years, our homes become more and more intelligent every day!
But most of these gadgets that harness the power of artificial intelligence and allow us to manage our homes easier and make them more fun, also need to be controlled in a way or another, so a new niche seems to configure for hardware and software manufacturer.
Until now, each individual home automation device used to have its own controller (either an individual remote, an iPhone or Android app or even phone and SMS switches), just like 25 years ago when every gadget in our living room had it’s own remote! Remember that? But times changed and the universal remote (read Logitech Harmony) was invented, ready to allow you to control all your gadgets from one main unit.
Well, history repeats, isn’t it? The NEEO Smart Remote is designed to do for your home what the Harmony did for your living-room – aggregate all controllers under one main unit and help you easier manage all your home automation devices.
The NEEO system comes with two units – the brain and the controller. The brain is a solid aluminum & acrylic glass unit which is able to connect with over 30,000 gadgets via IR (infrared) – the technology used in all classic remote controllers, Bluetooth, WiFi, 6LowPAN, ZigBee, Thread and Z-Wave protocols – basically most remote controller technologies available on the market. Additionally, a learning feature can teach the remote new commands in case the device you want to hook up it’s not in the internal database.
The Controller unit of the NEEO comes with a high definition display designed to help you control all the devices connected to the Brain, an array of sensors which can identify users and load personal profiles, activate and deactivate parental control as well as SOS activation in case you misplace your remote. The NEEO system can also be fully controlled by dedicated iPhone and Android apps.
The NEEO Thinking Remote is in project stage at Kickstarter (already reached it’s funding cap) and you can secure a kit for $219. The delivery is set for May 2015.

So how exactly does it work? Simply instal the Goji Smart Lock on your door, connect to your WiFi network, follow a couple of steps to setup the lock and you’re ready to go. Once you ran the setup, the Goji lock connects to your smartphone via Low Energy Bluetooth and allows you to lock or unlock the door via a simple touch of a button. While we like the idea behind the Goji lock and we’re looking forward to throwing away our physical keys ASAP, we are a bit concerned about the security level of the virtual keys. The guys from Goji confirmed that “The connections are coded with bank-level encryption to enssure your electronic safety.“. What’s your take on it? Are you ready to move from a traditional lock to a keyless entry door lock managed by your iPhone?
The desk has a minimalist design which makes it perfect for most apartments (even the smaller ones) and offices, it’s made of strong wood covered with eight-layer lacquer finish and it’s top is foam lined and wrapped in genuine leather.

Simply connect your iPhone, iPad, Android device or your laptop via Bluetooth or USB cable and get ready for the show.
The speaker system sports 45-degree angled rear speakers that project sound across a 120-degree span (that’s about 33% wider than most stereo speakers) and main loudspeakers with 7 drivers – two 2-in tweeters, two full-range and two medium drivers and one 6-in woofer for crystal clear and precise high and low tones!
