The O.R.B. - Meet The Future Of Bluetooth Headsets Opened

Bluetooth headsets evolved a lot from those bulky big ear hook pieces to the stylish little gadgets we buy today.
Although overall quality improved (battery, sound, microphones), the today Bluetooth headsets of today have the same issue they had since their begging – if you do not like to wear them (but you have to) you’re stuck keeping them attached to your ear, or put them in a pocket and break the ear hook or even damage the actual headset.

The O.R.B. Bluetooth headset is here to solve this issue. While in use, the O.R.B has an S shaped form attaching to the wearer’s ear. The headset is comfortable to wear and, given it uses bone conduction audio transmission technology, does away with the discomfort pf placing the device in your ear. While you’re not on a call, by twisting the O.R.B. you transform it into a ring and you can wear it on one of your fingers. The external part of the ring features an E-Ink display capable of displaying the date, time an the number calling you.

  1. Was the ORB actually ever available for sale? I keep seeing it touted in articles, but no working website link and no place actually listing for sale. I think this was only ever a concept and no one did their homework.

    • Hi VA,

I agree with you. I had a rough time as well gathering info when I first wrote the article. Most sites were copy/pasting info and not many were listing product links and useful details.

Last time I checked the O.R.B was still under development. The manufacturer (Hybra Tech) was supposed to release it to the market in the following months. The product page is here http://hybratech.com/products/orb/ but the link does not resolve as Hybra Tech is changing their servers (or at last this is what they say)!!!.
When accessing their homepage (http://www.hybratech.com/) – I get the following message: “Welcome to the HybraTech homepage. We have switched servers and are updating our webpage. Please allow us a couple weeks to finalize construction.Thank You, Hybra Team”

You can also see a cached version of the product page here: http://web.archive.org/web/20131224013406/http://hybratech.com/products/orb.php (browse the timeline on top of the page to see various versions as they were updated by the manufacturer.

      I hope this helps.

      • Their website still shows the same message. “..switched servers and are updating..”

        I think they’re history..

        • @Jon,
Indeed … I already contacted them 4-5 times and they never answered. Sad news … The ORB was a great product with a lot of potential 🙂

  2. Hello. When will the ring Bluetooth be available. I am ready to purchase

    • Hi @Sharnai,
I do not have any other news about the release date. I tried contacting the manufacturer several times, but they never answered back.
Now, their website seems to be under maintenance.
Try checking back with them in a couple of days when they finish the maintenance.

Also, please update this comment if you get any news from them.\

  3. I agree with all of the comments. I’ve been wanting one for soo long and still no further progress😦

  4. Can the Orb ring still be purchased. Can’t find it anywhere….

    • I tried getting in touch with the owner many times. Unfortunately, no luck. He never replied to my emails.
Honestly, I believe is just another cool idea that died prematurely.

Sorry., If I get any news from the crew behind the ORB I’ll post them here.
