Fire - Amazon's New Smartphone Hits The Shelves

Amazon Fire Phone, 32GB With 3D Dynamic Perspective And FireFly Option - Various Features

When Amazon first released it’s Kindle Fire tablet back in 2011 it shook the world of digital gadgetry by it’s quality, low price and wide range of features and apps included. 3 years later, the Original Kindle Fire scores a whopping 4 stars (out of five possible) based on over 22,000 Amazon reviews.

Why am I telling you all these? Because Amazon is getting ready to release their first smartphone to the markets – The Amazon Fire. The Fire is set to release next month (July 25th, 2014) and comes with a 4.7″ screen (1280 x 720 resolution with 315ppi), a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz processor, Adreno 330 graphics, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage, 4G, Bluetooth, NFC and runs on Fire OS 3.5.0 which is an Android based operating system.Amazon Fire Components View With 3D Dynamic Perspective Explanation

On the media side, the Amazon Fire sports a 13MP back camera with optical image stabilization, 1080p movie recording, dedicated camera button for snapping pictures in less than a second, intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range) which merges multiple exposures into a detailed, vibrant image even in low light conditions and automatic media backup into Amazon’s Cloud Drive (free unlimited cloud storage included in price). The audio sports Dolby Digital Plus designed to auto-adjust volume and automatically optimize the audio profile based on what the user is doing, watching or listening.

On the software side, the Fire comes with 3D Dynamic Perspective (“a custom-designed sensor system that responds to how you hold, view, and move your phone“) which adjusts any 3D image on the screen to match the user’s head position. A dedicated FireFly button was added to the phone and allows easy information scanning followed by pre-defined actions. Simply scan a phone number and call it, scan a web address and open the website, scan a business card and save the info to contacts. FireFly also recognizes songs, TV shows, QR codes, magazines, movies and books allowing you to get instant information on over 70 million products.
The Amazon Fire will be available starting at $199 US with AT&T contracts or at $649 US without contract.

Let’s hear you in the comments. How do you feel about the Amazon Fire? Do you think it will be as successful as its older brother, the kindle Fire series?
