If you think about it, typing did not improve much in the past 150 years. Yes, we passed from typewriters to wired PC keyboards and from wireless keyboards to virtual keypads as those in smartphone and tablets, but still, that’s not much of an advancement. The shape changed but not he content!
There’s also the CTX laser keyboard we told you about a while ago which clearly is a huge improvement over traditional keyboards, but pretty much follows the same, classic direction!
AirType is an Austin, Texas start-up which has as main objective bringing the classic keyboard into the 21 century!
AirType is an innovative device which is worn over your hands, it learns your finger movements, adapts to your typing style, comes with dynamic text prediction and correction and allows you to type anywhere and everywhere. Literally – imagine you’re typing an email, someone takes away the keyboard, but you keep on typing and the text builds up on the screen by some kind of magic! The device connects to smartphones, tablets and laptops via low energy Bluetooth, is easy to wear and remove and, when not in use, can be easily stored by clipping it on the tablet or laptop.
AirType is in prototype stage at this moment. We do not have any news about the release date or the pricing grid, but there are strong chances you’ll see it on Kickstarter or Indiegogo once it’s ready to hit production.
